Brookline Farm Residence

Overlooking expanses of Allendale Farm, this property is built discretely into a hillside that required a series of fieldstone retaining walls to create enough level grade to support the house and develop outdoor living and circulation spaces.

A lawn ramp, built with granite stones, like those typically used on farms, connects the entry level of the house to the upper outdoor living areas, where another retaining wall frames views of working farm fields. Adjacent to the site, a hillside is planted with native meadow and accessed with salvaged granite steps that continue up the hill for even more stunning views.

A large entry court that includes a basketball court, doubles as a play area for children. The rural character of the landscape elements enhance its agricultural setting and defy the fact that this property sits squarely within a city. Additional scope includes on-going maintenance, site development over ten years, and installtion of an irrigation system utilizing geo-thermal wells.
