Dedham Cottage Residence

A lawn path along the side of a charming house leads from the street to a surprising series of gardens that continue to unfold—a perennial and annual garden, raised stone vegetable gardens, and a wildflower garden.

The path ends at the bottom of a lawn ramp where the swimming pool and pool house are framed by stone walls that retain just enough grade to keep the pool hidden from the house and upper terraces. Detailed garden features include custom-designed fieldstone planters and the integration of brick and cobbles. Extensive fieldstone retaining walls create level terraces for intimately scaled, and distinctive, garden areas. A historic granite wall along the street was matched and seamlessly extends to create a larger entry area with a chip and seal driveway enclosed with custom fencing. On-going enhancements have continued since completion of the project.
